1. Choose the Site
   Recognize sensible and poor places to camp: water, slope, wind, trees overhead, fragile ground and trails.

2. Pitch and Position Tents
   Level, well-drained spots, room for guy lines, doors away from the wind and from each other.

3. Organize the Camp
   Where things belong: dry sleeping gear, wet gear, boots, packs, food, water and rubbish.

4. Cooking Area and Camp Safety
   A stable, ventilated cooking area away from the tents, with the fuel away from the flame.

   What changes when the weather does, and getting the camp ready for the night.
